Abstract

This project proposes the design of a tourist bicycle route in the Colta lagoon, Colta canton, Chimborazo province; through the collection of primary, secondary and field trip information. The legal and administrative viability, the social and environmental determination and finally the economic and financial evaluation of the project were carried out. Therefore, for the market study, 120 surveys were applied to the national segment and 117 to the different part, allowing to determine the profile of the tourist, respectively. The tourist bicycle is based on two packages that contemplate adventure and cultural activities. A marketing plan was designed, to attract the attention of the tourists, based on marketing and promotion strategies through the marketing mix as a customer, cost, convenience, and communication. According to the environmental analysis, it shows that the tourist cycle environmentally does not generate negative impacts that could cause severe damage to the ecosystem present in the area; therefore, mitigation measures were established. The financial study determines that the initial investment will be 118044.14 USD giving a positive NPV of 70525.20 USD and a CBR of 2.12 USD, the recovery time of the investment is in the third and fourth year reaching an IRR of 27%. It is concluded that the canton Colta possesses a significant tourism potential since there are attractions that have transcended through the years and acceded to the acceptance of the market by the bicycle sector. Its implementation is essential whose purpose favors the strengthening of the tourist activity of the canton and allow to achieve socio-economic development and the right living of the local population.
