Determinación de la huella de carbono bajo los estándares de la norma ISO 14064 en el Laboratorio Químico Ambiental “LABSU".

Abstract

The carbon footprint that aims to quantify the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the consumption of raw materials and energy used in LABSU to perform water, soil, air and food analyzes was determined, thus technical and technical guidelines were found. Administration for the reduction of its carbon footprint. In order to identify the functioning and organization of the laboratory areas, flowcharts of the laboratory areas were used. Whit this methodology, the emission sources of greenhouse gases were determined for the scopes determined by the standard, scope I, II and III. In the calculation the equations of ISO14064 were used. The carbon footprint determined with this international standard was obtained from the monthly consumption data by the LABSU laboratory activities, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions for the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 were 82.3, 75.5, 75.1, and 100.3 tons of CO2EQ respectively, with the result obtained, a management model was established for the mitigation of the carbon footprint that has plans to reduce carbon footprints for resources: fuel, energy water and paper. They aim to reduce 10% of the carbon footprint in the laboratory. A management model was made for the compensation of greenhouse gas emissions that establishes the concentration of an area of land, belonging to the organization, which compensates 120 tCO2 generated by the laboratory.
